Where should Carbon Monoxide Detectors be fitted?
Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors should be installed in every room containing a fuel-burning appliance and every sleeping room.
Choosing a Location
When fitting in the same room as a fuel burning appliance the detector should be at a horizontal distance between 1 and 3m from
the potential source, if the room has a sloped ceiling it should be at the high side of the room.
If the detector is wall mounted, it should be at least 150mm below the ceiling and at a height greater than any door or window.
If the detector is ceiling mounted, it should be at least 300mm away from any wall or light fitting.
If fitted in sleeping rooms the detector should be located relatively close to the breathing zone of the occupants.
Do not mount the detector above any source of heat or steam.
Refer to the Manufacturer’s instruction booklet for more information on posit
ioning.
