Security Hints
The MTI Simulator is exposed to the field of a microwave sour-
ce. Experimentation therefore is due to the common known
regulations concerning the handling with RF emitting sources.
- Avoid directly viewing into the radiating waveguide.
- Apply to the additional security hints of 737 01 Gunn Oscillator
The operation of the MTI Simulator without supervision by an
experienced tutor, or outside a training facility is not allowed.
Warnings
The Doppler Target is a modified loudspeaker. The
loudspeaker’s cone is unprotected and gives free acces for
didactic reasons. As cone and reflector are mechanical
sensistive parts it is imperative:
Not to touch!
Behind the 4 mm
sockets, on the rear side of the Doppler Target, there is a high
power ohmic load, which heats up during operation with
maximum amplitude (adjustable at target control). Attention
don’t touch with your fingers!
1 Description
The MTI Simulator is designed to perform stationary experi-
ments in Doppler radar systems. The moving target is the oscil-
lating reflector plate upon the membrane of the loudspeaker.
The Target Control supplies the electrical power for the Doppler
Target. The simulation of Doppler targets with different speed is
simulated by frequency and amplitude adjustments. The output
signals from the Doppler Converter (737 615) are measured
with Sensor-CASSY. They are evaluated with the CASSY Lab
software. The speeds selectable at the Target Control are simi-
lar to those of the trolley on the track. The operation of the MTI
Simulator needs additional material and a PC with software.
