GNET (GPI/O Network)
GNET
elements, also known as
GPI/O Network
, can be used to exchange logical control signals and level
parameters via TCP/IP. This makes it possible to control GPIO signals and levels within another radio on-air
system.
The GPI/O Network works on the principle of ports in order to manage the network traffic effectively. Each port can
handle 32 GPIO signals and 10 level controls. From any single system, you can configure up to 16 GPI/O
Network ports. If two ports need to communicate, for example on two separate consoles, then the
GPI/O
Network
elements must use the same port number.
To use this feature, there are two parts to the configuration. First, define the TCP/IP connections in both the
sending and receiving systems (via the “
System -> Definition -> Param = TCPLink
” branch of the 'Tree Definition').
Then, define the
GPI/O Network
elements in the sending and receiving systems as follows.
In the sending device, add an element to the "
GPI/O Network
" branch of the 'Tree Definition' for each port you
wish to configure. The
General
parameters will then define the port and the signals sent to the network.
Net
Reference name for the GPI/O Network (port).
Port
The port number (from 1 to 255).
Port + 1
Assigns an input control signal (e.g. logic “true”) to modify the port number. Use this
when working with multiple consoles so that each console can communicate with the
router via different GNET ports.
Port + 2
See above.
IP Address 3rd/4th Byte
If the third and/or fourth byte of the destination IP address are defined, only messages
concerning this address/area are sent out. For example, when transmitting from a
system with the default IP address (192.168.101.241), you might set the 3rd Byte = 101
and 4th Byte = 241.
This can reduce the network overhead and improve speed in large configurations. Note
that received messaged are not affected by these fields.
Mic Arb Offset
This field applies an offset to
numbers. Apply this to each GNET port within
the central router so that the mic arbitration numbers for different consoles are discrete.
GPO 1 to 32
Assigns the control functions which will be sent across the GPI/O Network port.
Level Send 1 to 10
Assigns the level controls which will be sent across the GPI/O Network port.
