SECTION 3 Initial Set-Up
3.1 Mounting The Articulator To The Tractor
The Model 325EFR-H Articulator is designed to be mounted to the Ransomes 728D trac-
tion unit ONLY. Do NOT attempt to mount the Model 325EFR-H Articulator to any other
traction unit make or model. Damage to the equipment and/or personal injury may result
from installation and/or operation of the Articulator with an improper traction unit.
Follow the procedures listed below to properly mount the Articulator to the tractor:
1. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the existing hydraulic motor.
2. Remove the existing mower deck from the push arms.
3. Remove the exising push arms from the traction unit.
4. Remove the high-pressure hydraulic hoses from the traction unit.
5. Install the supplied high-pressure hoses to the traction unit.
6. Install the supplied low-pressure hydraulic hose to the end of the existing low-pressure
hydraulic hose. Use the supplied connector fitting.
7. Verify that the hydaulic motor either rotates clockwise or is bi-directional. Motors with
counter-clockwise rotation only will not work with the Articulator (shaft rotation is deter-
mined by looking at the REAR of the motor with the shaft pointing straight DOWN).
8. Remove the main deck cover from the Articulator, exposing the hydraulic motor mount &
drive belt area.
9. Remove the hydraulic motor from the existing mower deck, and mount it to the Articulator.
Use the supplied 3/8-16 x 1 1/2” bolts, 3/8” flat washers, and 3/8-16 nylock nuts.
10. Mount the supplied split tapered bushing and double-groove pulley to the hydraulic motor
output shaft. Carefully align the two grooves of the pulley with the top two grooves in the
4-groove mower deck pulley.
11. Install the supplied 85380 drive belts onto the hydraulic motor pulley and the top two
grooves of the mower deck pulley. Tension the belts with the spring-loaded idler.
Before attempting to mount the Articulator to the tractor, be sure the
engine is off, the parking brake is set, and the transmission is in
neutral!
