APPLICATION
A marine searchlight must be capable of performing a range of tasks from locating buoys to illuminating a
narrow channel. The new RCL
‐
200 has been designed to offer the best combination of beam spread (width)
and intensity (length), for both shorter and longer range (work). The RCL
‐
200 can also be used on medium to
larger motor homes for illuminating driveways to campsites, road signs and as a back
‐
up light.
PERFORMANCE DATA
RCL
‐
200 quotes performance data in two ways: Candle power & Lux. Candle power is a useful guide to actual
light produced. It does not however, measure the efficiency of the reflector design to project light at a target.
The most relevant comparison guide is LUX, which is the measurement of actual light available at a given
distance. In order to distinguish a reasonable level of detail, a level of one lux is generally necessary.
AUTO SWEEP
With the light on in either fast or slow mode, the light will continuously sweep the light 10 degrees each side of
the initial target spot. If the light is in fast mode, it will automatically place the unit into slow mode. Simply press
the auto sweep button again to finish the cycle. The light will return to its initial starting point and the directional
controls will become available for use again.
SPOT/FLOOD
The spot and flood buttons allow the beam configuration to change from a spot to a flood, or any beam
configuration between these two extreme limits. Simply hold one of the buttons down until you reach the
desired beam configuration. For full spot or flood, hold the spot or flood button down until it comes to a
complete stop.
WIRELESS RANGE PERFORMANCE
The RCL
‐
200 wireless controllers are tested in real life marine conditions. The lights are installed in both coach
roof and on the bow locations with primary controllers located in the wheel house and secondary controllers in
various other locations. The results show no loss of interference between the light and the controller
performing as required. Laboratory testing has shown no loss of performance in line of sight conditions at
100ft. Additional laboratory testing with the light and controller communicating through obstructions at 50ft has
shown no loss of performance.
