Section 1: Assembly & Set-Up
Skid Steer/Tractor Requirements
Consult the skid steer or tractor Operator’s Manual for
operating capacity, lifting capacity, and operating
specifications. They will vary from unit to unit. Do not
exceed the rated capacities and specifications of the skid
steer or tractor. The SGS15 Series Claw Grapples are
designed to attach to skid steer loaders and tractor
loaders with the following requirements:
Hitch. . . . . Skid steer quick attach, meets ISO 24410
Horsepower . . . . . . . . . . . . . 50 -135 hp (37 -101 kW)

To avoid serious injury or death:

Use a power machine of adequate size for the load being
carried. An undersized machine can roll over when raising
the loader arms due to high center of gravity.

Lightweight power machines may need weight added to the
rear to maintain steering control and prevent forward and/
or side tipping. Consult your power machine Operator’s
Manual to determine proper weight requirements and

Torque Requirements
Refer to
“Torque Values Chart”
on page 24 to determine
correct torque values when tightening hardware.
Before You Start
Make sure that the intended skid steer/tractor conforms
to the requirements provided on this page. Also, read and
understand this Operator’s Manual for your Skeleton
Grapple. An understanding of how it works will aid in its
assembly and set-up.
Go through the
before assembling the Skeleton Grapple. To speed up
your assembly task and make the job safer, have all
needed parts and equipment readily at hand.
Special Set-Up Instructions
Refer to Figure 1-3:
If lower bucket was purchased without upper jaws and
customer is now adding upper jaws to the lower bucket,
begin with set-up instructions
If upper jaws are factory installed to lower bucket, begin
with set-up instructions
If grapple was purchased with lower bucket and end
plates only, begin with set-up instructions
If grapple was purchased with lower bucket only and no
end plates, begin with set-up instructions
Pre-Assembly Checklist
Check
Ref.
Have a forklift or loader with properly sized chains and safety
stands capable of lifting and supporting the equipment on hand.
Have a minimum of two people available during assembly.
Make sure all major components and loose
parts are shipped with the attachment.
Assembly
& Set-up
Double check to make sure all parts, fasteners,
and pins are installed in the correct location.
Refer to the Parts Manual if unsure.
NOTE:
All assembled hardware from the factory
has been installed in the correct location.
Remember location of a part or fastener if
removed. Keep parts separated.

Make sure working parts move freely, bolts are
tight & cotter pins are spread.

Make sure all grease fittings are in place and
lubricated.
Make sure all safety labels are correctly located
and legible. Replace if damaged.
