Open the
ROBO Pro
software. Follow the directions below to complete the activity.
In this activity, you will create your own control program to run the Welding Robot model you constructed
in the last lesson. You will first learn more about the pulse counter and its properties.
Many fischertechnik model robots use pulse wheels. These gear wheels operate a switch four times
for every revolution. With pulse wheels, you can turn a motor on for a precisely defined number of
revolutions rather than for a given time. To do this, you need to count the number of pulses at an input of
the Interface. For this purpose, you would use the
Pulse counter
element, which waits for a user-definable
number of pulses.
Connect your model to the interface and turn the power on.
From the main menu select New.
1.
Drag a Start element into your sheet.
2.
Drag a Motor element into the sheet under the Start element until it attaches itself.
3.
Right-click on this element and under Motor Output, select M1 and under Image, select Motor

keeping the other defaults, then click OK.
Drag a Branch element into the sheet under the Motor element until it attaches itself.

Right-click on the element and under Digital Input, select I1. Keep the other defaults, and then click

OK.
Drag another Motor element into the sheet under the Branch element until it attaches itself to the 1

output.
Right-click on the element and under Motor Output, select M, under Image, select Motor, and under

Action, select Stop. Keep the other defaults, then click OK.
Drag a Branch element into the sheet under the M1 Motor Stop element until it attaches itself.

Right-click on the element and under Digital Input, select I8 keeping the other defaults, then click

OK.
Drag another Motor element into the sheet under the Branch element until it attaches itself to the 1

output.
Right-click on the element and under Motor Output, select M1. Under Image, select Motor, and

under Action, select CCW keeping the other defaults, then click OK.
Drag a Pulse counter element into the sheet under the Motor element until it attaches itself.

Right-click on the element and under Number of pulses enter 52. Under Digital Input, select I2.

Keep the other defaults, then click OK.
Drag another Motor element into the sheet under the Pulse Counter element until it attaches itself.

Right-click on the element and under Motor Output, select M1,under Image, select Motor, and under

Action, select Stop. Keep the other defaults, then click OK.
Drag a Motor element into the sheet under the Motor element until it attaches itself.

Right-click on the element and under Motor Output, select M2, under Image, select Lamp, and

under Action, select ON. Keep the other defaults, then click OK.
Drag a Time Delay element into the sheet under the Motor element until it attaches itself.

Right-click on the element and under Time, select the default of 1 second by clicking OK.
20.
Drag a Motor element into the sheet under the Motor element until it attaches itself.
21.
Right-click on the element. Under Motor Output, select M2. Under Image, select Lamp. Under

Action, select OFF. Keep the other defaults, then click OK.
