The CEU, STE-R, STE-RI and STE-RT are equipped with a Red Audio port on the left side of the

STE, which is used for remote voice operation.

All STE-R models can operate and do communicate when in remote control mode using “AT” commands
between the STE and the connected data device.
All provide secure data interoperable with units supported by other STEs or STU-III Terminals, and
secure data (computer) interoperable with terminals supported by STE Terminals.
The CEU, STE-R, STE-RI, and STE-RT provide secure voice interoperability with STE, and STU-III, and
SCIP terminals when they function as a gateway device for interfacing red switches with STE, STU-III,
and SCIP terminals on black “dial-up” PSTN or ISDN systems.
