14. FRONT ASSEMBLY

Front Brake Pad

Brake Pad Replacement

5.1.

Remove the pad pins (1).

Remove the two caliper mounting bolts (2),

and then remove the caliper.

Remove the brake pads. Replace the pads if

the brake wear exceeds the wear indicator

lines or if the wear is uneven. Insert new

brake pads as needed.



Always replace the brake pads in

pairs to ensure even disc pressure.

Apply a light coat of waterproof grease to the

brake pad pin. Push the pads against the

pad spring and insert the brake pad pin.

It may be necessary to spread the pads and

force the pistons back into the caliper in

order to allow room for the brake disc to fit

between the new pads.

Install the front caliper onto the fork leg and

then install and tighten the new two caliper

mounting bolts to the specified torque.

Torque: 35 N-m (3.5 kgf-m)

Tighten 1 pad pins to the specified torque.

Torque: 18 N-m (1.8 kgf-m, 13 lbf-ft)
