8. When cold start wait indicator turns off, turn ignition switch clockwise to start tractor. Warning alarm will
sound. Indicators light.
• If engine does not start, ensure start interlock conditions are met. See page 42 for start interlock
information.
• If engine turns but does not start within 20 seconds, allow starter to cool one minute before trying
to start again.
9. Run engine at half-throttle or less for five minutes before operating tractor. During warm-up, check that
all controls work properly.

General Operation
1. Turn on optional lights as needed. See page 45 or page 50.
2. Raise backfill blade and all attachments. See “Backfill blade control” on page 32.
3. Press brake pedal.
4. Release parking brake and verify parking brake indicator is off.
5. Ensure ground drive direction/speed control is in neutral. See page 28.
6. Ensure gearbox shift control is in high to drive. See “Gearbox shift control” on page 43.
7. Adjust ground drive direction/speed control to move tractor.
8. Release brake pedal.
9. Press foot throttle to increase tractor speed.
Moving traffic – hazardous situation. Death or serious injury could result.
Avoid moving vehicles, wear high visibility clothing, post appropriate warning signs.
To help avoid injury:
• Survey your field of vision when operating the machine.
• Drive carefully in congested areas. Know machine’s clearance and turning radius.
EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN : Turn ignition switch to STOP.
