Checking/setting the needle brake 22.3

To ensure that the rear needle yoke (4) is securely locked, the dimension must be X=1–6 mm ,
measured between the locking (2) and the journal (1) of the front needle yoke (5).

Check the dimension X between the locking (2) and the journal (1).
Æ
If the dimension is X=1–6 mm , the setting is correct.
Æ If the dimension is not X=1–6 mm :
„
Dismount the rubber buffer (7) on the right-hand and left-hand machine side.
„ Place or remove the same number of spacer washers (8) under the rubber buffers (7)
on right-hand and left-hand machine side until the dimension is X=1–6 mm.
22.3 Checking/setting the needle brake

ü The machine is disconnected from the tractor.
ü
The height of the knotter needles at the knotter is checked and set, refer to page 303 .
ü
The upper dead point of the knotter needles is checked and set, refer to page 305 .
ü The needle yoke is in idle position, refer to page 113 .
Checking the needle brake
„ Apply flywheel brake refer to page 92 .
„
Check dimension X.

If the dimension is X=35 mm, the setting is correct.
Æ
If the dimension is not X=35 mm, the needle brake must be adjusted.
Adjusting the needle brake
„ Loosen the screws (5).
„
Loosen the counter nut (1).
„ Tighten or loosen the screw (2) until the dimension is X=35 mm.
„
Tighten the counter nut (1).
„
Slightly pre-tension the spring (4) by tightening the nut (3).
„
Tighten screws (5).
