RISCTerm.exe

A dumb-terminal type communication program designed for RS-422/485 operation. Used 
primarily with remote data acquisition pods and our RS-422/485 serial communication product 
line. Can be used to say hello to an installed modem. RISCTerm stands for really incredibly simple 
communications terminal.

Calib.exe

A utility for calibrating the card.  It stores the results in the calibration registers described in the 
“Calibration” section of this manual.

System Installation

These cards can be installed in a five-volt PCI slot of an IBM or compatible computer.  Before 
installing the card, carefully read Chapter 3, “Option Selection” and configure the card according 
to your requirements.  Finally, our SETUP.EXE program will lead you through the process of 
setting the options on your card.  The setup program does not set the options.  These must be set 
manually by jumpers on the card.

To install the card, follow these steps:

1) Turn off PC power. Disconnect the power cord.

2) Remove the PC cover.

3) Set switches and jumpers on card using either Chapter 3, “Option Selection” or the 

suggestions of our SETUP.EXE software program.

4) Locate an available PCI slot and remove the blank metal slot cover.

5) Gently insert the PCI-AOB8/12 (16/12) into the slot. Make sure that the board is seated 

properly and that there is a positive chassis ground.
