collect your document(s) from the printer without missing pages and with-
out resending the print job.
Electronic Document Collation (the printer must have an installed hard
disk to use this feature). Since all pages of a particular document are
stored, it is not necessary to send a print job multiple times from the soft-
ware application to print multiple copies. This feature enhances printer
performance and decreases network traffic dramatically.
Rasterization
Each time the print engine is ready to print a new page, the print data is trans-
lated into a bitmap format that is stored, and then read by the print engine.
For monochrome printing, the page bitmaps consist of black bitmaps only.
Color printers translate the print data into either four separate bitmaps, (one
for cyan, one for magenta, one for yellow, and one for black).
The below illustration demonstrates the color rasterization process with
bitmap representations. The rasterizer processes the data into four bitmaps,
one for cyan, one for magenta, one for yellow, and one for black.
