Cutter bar - oil check
NOTE:
Check the oil level every day during the harvesting
season at one of the plugs.
NOTICE:
Always clean the area around the cutter bar in-
spection/fill plugs before you check the oil level to prevent
contamination of the gear oil.
Check the cutter bar oil level every day before you op-
erate the implement in the field. Maintain the cutter bar
oil level using
SAE 85W-140
or similar quality of other
suppliers.
The oil in the cutter bar is very thick, especially when it
is cold. Therefore, before you check the oil level if the
implement has been moved or has been in operation:
• Wait a minimum of
15 min
if the oil is cold.
• Wait a minimum of
3 min
if the oil is warm.
To check the oil level proceed as follows:
1. Park the implement on a flat, level surface.
2. Lower the header, and then adjust the header tilt to
0°
so that the cutter bar is as close to horizontal across
the cutter bar length.
Check the position by means of a level tube
(1)
,
both lengthwise and crosswise.
When the working day is over, place the implement
in the horizontal position (as described above) to
be sure that the oil is correctly distributed the next
morning. In this way you may check the oil level
without any waiting time.
To facilitate the oil check, we recommend you to
have a permanent oil measuring platform where
you may place the cutter bar and check the oil level.
This means that you do not need to check the hor-
izontal position of the cutter bar every time before
the oil check.
