6 - WORKING OPERATIONS
TopSafe™ system adjustment with asymmetric equipment
The asymmetric equipment (see Page
10-2
) increases the
weight of the rear end of the header. This means that
the
TopSafe™
system is released too easily, and it is not
possible to keep a constant cutting height.
In order to compensate for this, install the fitting
(2)
and
the
TopSafe™
system springs
(3)
. The fitting
(2)
is in-
stalled on the pin
(1)
.
Thereby the lifting point, at which the relief springs are
carrying the header, is moved to the rear whereby the
tendency of the header to tip backward in the
TopSafe™
system is reduced.
The original
TopSafe™
system springs are tension
springs. They must be replaced by the springs
(3)
that
are compression springs. The compression spring sys-
tem is adjusted thereby the rod reaches the distance W
of
125 mm
(
4.9 in
).
NOTE:
When the relief springs is to the wanted position,
it is necessary to adjust the relief system and the
Top-
Safe™
system again before the implement is ready for
use.
NOTE:
Lower the implement completely to the ground and
loosen the relief springs completely before you remove
the lower spring fitting and install the other type
(2)
. After-
ward, install the springs at the rear point
(1)
.
NOTICE:
Do not try to install the existing fittings at the
point
(2)
on the rear pin
(1)
. This will result in the relief
springs getting in contact with the legs of the wheel frame.

If you work with the implement in very low stubble, the ten-
dency of the header to tip backward in the
TopSafe™
sys-
tem will also increase because the weight of the header
is resting more on the front end of the guide shoes than
on the rear end. In order to compensate for this, it may
be necessary to increase the effect of the compression
springs in the
TopSafe™
system by adjusting the distance
W to more than
125 mm
(
4.9 in
). The system does not
allow that the distance increases to more than approxi-
mately
175 mm
(
6.9 in
). This is due to the fact that if the
springs are tightened more, the
TopSafe™
system will be
inactivated completely or partially. This increases the risk
of damage considerably in case of collision with for exam-
ple, a protruding stone.
