Verifying system operation by means of the Diagnostics
functionality
The purpose of the
Diagnostics
dialog box is to allow on-line testing and verification of the
hardware components in the MF90 system. The
Transceiver
page offers key information
about each transceiver board in the Transceiver Unit. Use the
Transducer
page to do a
reception test to check the individual transducer elements. Any errors are then easily
detected.
Prerequisites
The MF90 system hardware units are installed as specified in this manual.
• The MF90 system is turned on and operates normally.
• The MF90 system is in Normal mode, but
TX Power
is set to Off to prevent transmissions.
• The transducer is retracted to its upper position.
• The vessel is berthed or at sea.
Caution
You must never set the MF90 system to "ping" unless the transducer is submerged in water.
The transducer may be damaged if it transmits in open air.
Neither tools nor instruments are required.
For the best possible conditions, the ship must be "silent".
• The water must be as deep as possible. Recommended minimum depth is 100 metres.
• There must be no other vessels in the vicinity.
• The vessel must lie still in the water.
