The CS90 system offers an inspection beam. The inspection beam is presented using an
Inspection view. You can train and tilt the beam independent of the beams displayed
in the other views. You can use the Inspection view to study single fish, schools and
bottom conditions in detail.
The Inspection view shows you echo data from a separate beam. The opening angle
of the inspection beam depend on the operating frequency. Since the Inspection
view operates with its own dedicated beam, the operating frequency can be adjusted
independently of the other views. The echo data in the
Inspection view is not subjected
to AGC and RCG filtering.
The Inspection view can be regarded as an "echo sounder" with an adjustable direction.
In the CS90 system we use the phrase echogram to describe the information provided
by the view.
• Small labels are shown in the bottom left and right corners of the view. These labels
show you the time in order to identify the scale of the horizontal axis.
• When enabled, equidistant horizontal scale lines are drawn in the view to indicate
the range.
• The
Horizontal Scroll
function controls how fast the echoes shall travel across the
Inspection views.

To fully understand how the beams behave in this view, use the
Beam Visualization
dialog box.
Selecting Normal mode to start pinging
In order to transmit ("ping") you must set the CS90 system to Normal operating mode. This
is the default mode when the CS90 system is turned on.
Context
The
Operation
function controls the operating mode of the CS90 system. Normal mode
allows the CS90 system to transmit ("ping") through the water, and to receive the echoes.
Caution
You must never permit the CS90 system to transmit (ping) when the ship is in dry dock.
The transducer may be damaged if it transmits in open air.
Once started, the acoustic transmissions are controlled by the
Transmission Mode
and
TX
Power
functions.
