MAINTENANCE
Ensure connectors are secured tight. Loose contacts cause erratic functioning and error
in readings.
While not in use, the machine is to be fully covered to keep it free from dust.
Handle sensors (load cell, displacement, and thermocouple) carefully. Excessive force,
shock, temperature, dirt, oil, water effect calibration and may cause damage to sensing
element or connecting cable.
Test Rig should be kept clean and inspected from time to time.
Wear disc is of carbon steel EN 31, it is likely to get rusted unless preserved properly
after use. Remove it from the holder, clean, apply rust preventive, seal in a moisture
proof polythene bag and store in the dry place. Castrol DWX30 is one such rust
preventive. Several other rust preventives are commercially available, which may be
used. A thorough cleaning to remove rust preventive will be needed before next use.
