1 Introduction

The Koehler K47001 Autoignition Apparatus is

used  to  determine  the  hot  and  cool  flame
autoignition  temperatures  of  a  liquid  in  air  at
atmospheric  pressure  in  a  uniformly  heated
vessel. The temperatu

res at which ‘cool flame’ and

‘hot  flame’  ignitions  occur,  as  evidenced  by
sudden temperature increases in the sample flask,
are  measured  and  recorded,  and  the  delay  time
between introduction of the sample and  ignition  is
timed.

This manual provides important information

regarding  safety,  technical  reference,  installation
requirements,  operating  condition  specifications,
user  facility  resource  requirements,  and  operating
instructions

for

the

Koehler

Autoignition

Apparatus.  This  manual  should  also  be  used  in
conjunction  with  applicable  published  laboratory
procedures.  Information  on  these  procedures  is
given in section 1.2.
