4 Descriptions
4.1 Instrument Controls
1. Power Switch. This switch controls the power
to the entire unit. When the power switch is in
the
ON position, the digital temperature
controller, the torque meters, compressors
and drive systems of the unit are powered on.
2. Temperature Controller. The temperature
controller regulates the chamber temperature
for the test procedure. Refer to Section 4.2 for
full operational details.
3. Spindle Temperature: Displays the
temperature of the interior of the ASTM D4693
test rig in °C.
4. Left Drive Motor Switch: Controls the ASTM
D1478 test rig motor drive
5. Right Drive Motor Switch. Controls the
ASTM D4693 test rig motor drive
6. Torque: Two meters display the load values
(NOT THE TORQUE VALUES) from the test
rigs in
lbs , arranged as follows:

Over-torque cut-off feature
– The torque
meter is equipped with an automatic cut-off
that interrupts power to the drive motor when
measured torque exceeds a programmed
limit. This limit is factory preset at 55 lbs to
protect the load cell and drive system
components.
To reset the drive unit after cut-off, depress
both buttons on the face of the meter
simultaneously and release.
To charge the cut-off limit:
a) Depress the button on the right side of the
meter to confirm the current cut-off valve.
b) While depressing the button, adjust the
value by turning the recessed set screw on the
face of the torque meter with a small slotted
screwdriver.
CAUTION
– Do not adjust the cut-off value
higher than 55 lbs or damage to the drive
system and/or load cell may occur during
operation.
4.2 Temperature Controller Operation

1. Process Temperature Display. The
upper red LED display shows the process
temperature as read from the RTD probe.
2. Set Point Temperature Display. The
lower green LED display shows the set
point temperature of the controller.
