5. Operation
5.1 Switching on the pump
Note:
Operator errors and clogged capillaries can cause high pressure
spikes.
Process
1.
Switch on the pump. The device performs a self-test.
2.
Wait until the pump has completed the self-test.
3.
After the test has been successfully completed, the program that
was active last is displayed. The pump is now ready for operation.
5.2 Configuring the LPG module
In the
Setup menu, up to three channels can be activated for the solvents
used.
Process
1.
Press to go to the Main menu.
2.
Press to open the device settings.
3.
Use the arrow keys to select the
Gradient mode submenu.
4.
Use the arrow keys up and down to choose LPG-2 for binary or
LPG-3 for ternary gradient. Confirm with or press any horizon-
tal key.
5.3 Purging the pump
Before the pump can be used, it must be purged to remove excess air in
the capillaries.
Component defect
Possible damage to the pump head due to dry running.
Make sure that solvent fl ows through the pump head and piston
backfl ushing.
Column defect
Damage to the column due to purging.
Open the venting screw.
Remove the column.
