13. KNK Force: Rotary Tool
Much Different Tool!
Much Different Approach!
The following is a MUST READ!
•
Safety First!
Please read
Section 13.01
before using the rotary tool.
•
Unlike with the blade holder, there is no spring which offsets the downward movement of
the rotary tool. Thus, the tool will reach the
Cutting Depth / End Depth
entered. The
number of
Passes
needed will depend on the thickness and density of the material.
•
Start with engraving for practice. There is less risk of breaking a bit or damaging the cutter.
•
Be conservative in your approach. Use slow
Speeds
(all four), as recommended, and
more
Passes
versus fewer.
•
The general approach to cutting involves these steps:
(1) Measure the thickness of the material to be cut (
Section 13.04.1
).
(2) Enter the thickness and
Surface Height
obtain a
Cutting Depth / End Depth
for testing (
Section 13.04.2
and
13.04.3).
(3) Perform the
Pen Test
(
Section 13.05).
Repeat until the correct
Cutting Depth / End
Depth
is determined.
(4) Select an appropriate cutting bit for the rotary tool and mount the rotary tool in the
Force (
Section 13.06
and
Section 13.07).
(5) Enter all settings
(Section 13.03).
(6) Review the
Important Checklist
(
Section 13.09.2)
before cutting.
