Getting Started
Before First Use
• Unpack the appliance but keep all packaging materials until you have made sure your new
double hotplate is undamaged and in good working order.
• Plastic wrapping can be a suffocation hazard for babies and young children, so ensure all
packaging materials are out of their reach.
• Unwind the cord to its full length and inspect it for damage. Do not use the appliance if the
appliance or its cord have been damaged or are not working properly.
• Make sure that the hotplate voltage (see rating plate) and the line voltage match.
• Read this manual to familiarise yourself with appliance. Pay particular attention to the safety
instructions on the previous pages.
• While the appliance is disconnected from the power supply, wipe the stainless steel surface
with a damp cloth or sponge to remove any dust that has accumulated during transport and
storage. Dry thoroughly.
• Place the appliance on a flat, dry and heat-resistant surface.
• With both temperature knobs turned to the OFF position, plug the power cord into an
appropriate power point.
• Turn both control knobs to maximum heat and let the hotplates heat up briefly to burn off any
oils from the manufacturing process.

NOTE: The unit may emit a slight smell or smoke when it is first heating up. This is
due to the components being new and can be disregarded safely, it is entirely
harmless. Ensure there is adequate ventilation. Leave the unit powered on briefly
until all odor and/or smoke has dissipated, then turn the controls back to the OFF
position.
• Let the hotplates cool down. The appliance is now ready for use.
CAUTION!
Only use flat and stable pots and pans on this appliance to ensure even heat
distribution and to maximise heat efficiency.
