The power inserter has a built-in alarm that sounds when the coax is disconnected from the antenna or the power inserter.

If the antenna does not start scanning when you press the
button:
Double check all connections and make sure power inserter is plugged into
a known good power source.
If antenna scans but you get no TV picture:
Make sure TV’s source input is from the receiver.

Check for line of sight obstructions. Move antenna to have better view of
southern sky and scan again.
If picture goes in and out:
