Specifications - Hardware
The Keyspan USB Twin Serial Adapter provides TWO female Din8 serial ports which supports
asynchronous or clocked asynchronous RS-422/RS-232 communications at data rates up to
1Mbit/sec. The Keyspan USB Twin Serial Adapter's ports also support serial devices that require
external clocking of the baud rate. Please read our
for a list of serial
devices that have been tested with the Keyspan USB Twin Serial Adapter.
The Keyspan USB Twin Serial Adapter also supports many MIDI devices. Please read our
appendix for details about MIDI and the Keyspan USB Twin Serial Adapter.
AppleTalk (LocalTalk) and Geoport are not supported on the Keyspan USB Twin Serial
Adapter's ports. Please note that AppleTalk (LocalTalk) and Geoport are not disabled by the
Keyspan USB Twin Serial Adapter if you have these features installed already.

Serial Ports
Specifications - Software
The TWO female Din8 serial ports on the Keyspan Adapter are seen as serial ports by Mac OS.
The Keyspan serial ports are interfaced via the "CommToolBox" API and are then available to any
program that accesses serial ports via this API. For programs that don't use the CommToolBox to
access serial ports, the Keyspan adapter can emulate the PRINTER and/or MODEM ports as
found on older Macintosh computers.
