Service

Introduction

This chapter contains service information for the Keysight E1458A 96-Channel 
Digital I/O module, including repair strategy, troubleshooting techniques and 
repair/maintenance guidelines.

Repair Strategy

Procedures in this chapter describe troubleshooting techniques for the Keysight 
E1458A Digital I/O module. The VXI interface and port driver circuits are all 
contained on a single PC board in the Keysight E1458A. This module should be 
replaced as an exchange assembly. Exchange assembly part numbers are 
contained in Chapter 3 - Replaceable Parts.

Equipment Required

Equipment required for troubleshooting and repair is listed in Table 1-2, 
Recommended Test Equipment. Any equipment that satisfies the requirements 
given in the table may be substituted.

To avoid damage to the screw head slots, use a T8 Torx driver to remove the front 
panel handles and a T10 Torx driver to remove the shields.

Service Aids

See Chapter 3 for descriptions and locations of Keysight E1458A mechanical 
replaceable parts. Service notes, manual updates, and service literature for the 
modules may be available through Keysight Technologies. For information, 
contact your nearest Keysight Technologies Sales and Support Office. A list of 
Sales and Support Offices can be found at the back of this manual.

Do not perform any of the service procedures shown unless 

you are a qualified, service-trained technician, and have 

read the WARNINGS and CAUTIONS in Chapter 1.
