Chassis Installation

Connecting and Verifying Operation with Modules Installed

In chapter 1 of this guide, you should have verified basic power-on operation of the

AXIe chassis. Using

Keysight I/O libraries Connection Expert

utility for Windows or

Linux, reverify communication with chassis and installed modules following the

process outlined below. Alternatively, you may also use a user custom I/O

interface to verify operation. When connecting to the chassis the first time, make

sure that your computer and the M9506A are in the same subnet and that there is

a DHCP server on the network. Otherwise, the

Keysight Connection Expert

will be

unable to detect your device. After you have established the initial connection, you

can change the Ethernet settings to use a static IP, if desired.
Preset Ethernet settings are:
- Activated DHCP
- Activated mDNS
- Deactivated AutoIP

Connect Ethernet connection

Power up the chassis and wait for the solid green status light on the ESM.

Wait for the module’s Status LEDs to turn green.

Establish chassis communication with

Keysight Connection Expert

Keysight Connection Expert should recognize the chassis and all installed

M9703B, M9709A, and M9710A modules, and they should be listed on the

chassis Web Interface Module Configuration Page.

The chassis Shelf Manager (on the ESM) knows whether the power supply is

connected to a Low Line or a High Line AC source and the power the installed AXIe

modules are requesting. At power-up, if the modules are requesting more power

than is available, then the Shelf Manager prevents one or more modules from

powering up.
Use the chassis Web Interface (see

M9506A User Guide

, Chapter 3, “Navigating

the Web Interface”) to determine if all modules are powered on.

NOTE

The LAN connection to the ESM provides communication to the

chassis and the integrated controller - chassis, integrated

controller and digitizer firmware updates, web interface to

monitor/control the chassis and integrated controller, etc. The

integrated controller provides communication with any installed

M9703B, M9709A, and M9710A module.
