HIGH-LIMIT THERMOSTAT, INLET
THERMISTOR, & THERMAL CUTOFF
(ELECTRIC MODELS ONLY)
Refer to page 4-10 for the procedure for ac-
cessing the high-limit thermostat, inlet therm-
istor, & thermal cutoff.
1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power.
2. Disconnect the wires or connector from
the component under test.
3. Set the ohmmeter to the R x 1 scale.
4. Touch the ohmmeter test leads to the
high-limit thermostat terminals. The me-
ter should indicate a closed circuit (0 Ω).
NOTE: The thermostat opens at 295
°
F
(146
°
C).
5. Touch the ohmmeter test leads to the
thermal cutoff (TCO) terminals. The me-
ter should indicate a closed circuit (0 Ω).
NOTE: The TCO opens at 352
°
F (178
°
C).
6. Set the ohmmeter to the R x 100K scale.
7. Touch the ohmmeter test leads to the inlet
thermistor terminals. The meter should in-
dicate approximately 50k Ω @ 69 to 86
°
F
(21 to 30
°
C).

ELECTRIC HEATER
Refer to page 4-10 for the procedure for ac-
cessing the electric heater.
1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power.
2. Disconnect the wires from the heater ter-
minal block.
3. Set the ohmmeter to the R x 1 scale.
4. Touch the ohmmeter test leads to the heat-
er terminals. The meter should indicate be-
tween 7 and 12
