To set up FTP server users
Set up user groups and assign the appropriate privileges to use the FTP server. Change the default
passwords, if any, when you first start up the system and at regular intervals after that.
6.4 Splash Screen
You may display a picture while the unit is booting. The factory default is to show a Kendrion tile. Run the
update tool to change the picture, as appropriate.
Splash Screen Format
Check that the BMPs you wish to use as a splash screen of Vico / Scout X06 are available as
RGB565-
encoded bitmaps
. The text below uses the GIMP image processor (version 2.8.0) to explain how to create
these pictures.
Mind that the picture's resolution must match the screen resolution.

Pick Export... from the File menu.
Enter
logo.bmp
as the bitmap name. GIMP uses the extension to recognise the file type.
Pressing
Exportieren
(export) displays screen
Bild exportieren als BMP
(export image as BMP).
On that screen, expand the panel underneath "Erweiterte Optionen" (more).
Now choose "16 Bit – R5 G6 B5".
Pressing
"Exportieren"
(export) saves logo.bmp as a RGB565 file.
To Transfer the Splash Screen
Run the unit's update function to transfer the splash screen to the target system.
Check Kendrion's download folder for a zip archive which you can unzip and save on a USB stick.
Store the logo file in folder \splash\logo.bmp of external mass storage device
The system checks if logo.bmp is a valid file
(RGB565 format, pixel width and height same as displayed image).
If the format is found to match, logo.bmp is installed as the splash screen.
