Example Programs

Models 2510 and 2510-AT User’s Manual

Introduction

This appendix includes two example BASIC programs to demonstrate basic Model 2510
remote operation:

•

Program 1: Basic temperature control.

•

Program 2: Using setpoint tolerance to generate a temperature sweep.

Program requirements

Computer hardware requirements

The following computer hardware is required to run the example programs:

•

IBM PC compatible computer.

•

Keithley KPC-488.2, KPS-488.2, or KPC-488.2AT, or CEC PC-488 IEEE-488
interface for the computer.

•

Shielded IEEE-488 interface cable (Keithley Model 7007).

Software requirements

In order to use the example programs, you will need the following computer software:

•

Microsoft QBasic (supplied with MS-DOS 5.0 or later).

•

MS-DOS version 5.0 or later or Windows 95/98.

•

HP-style Universal Language Driver, CECHP.EXE (supplied with Keithley and
CEC interface cards listed above).

General program instructions

With the power off, connect the Model 2510 to the IEEE-488 interface of the com-
puter. Be sure to use a shielded IEEE-488 cable for bus connections.

Turn on the computer and the Model 2510.

Make sure the Model 2510 is set for a primary address of 15. (Use the front panel
MENU/COMMUNICATIONS/GPIB selection to check or change the address.)

Make sure that the computer bus driver software (CECHP.EXE) is properly initial-
ized.

Enter the QBasic editor, and type in the example program from the listing later in
this Appendix.

Check thoroughly for errors, then save it using a convenient filename.

Run the program, and note any display messages on the computer screen.
