Bandwidth and resolution for AC measurements
An AC filter is used for ACV and ACI measurements. The AC filter affects measurement speed. As
shown in the table below, there are three bandwidth settings for the AC filter: Slow, medium, and fast.
The slow filter allows you to measure lower frequency inputs (down to 3Hz). The fast filter trades low
frequency sensitivity for greater measurement speed. The medium filter is a compromise between
sensitivity and speed.
The default bandwidth setting is 20 Hz (medium). Bandwidth and resolution can be set from the front
panel or by using remote programming. The AC bandwidth setting is stored in volatile memory. When
power to the instrument is cycled, the medium setting is restored.

The bandwidth times only apply when the trigger delay is set to AUTO. If trigger delay is set to
MANUAL, the manual delay is applied instead of the delay specified in the bandwidth table. In
MANUAL trigger delay mode, the instrument uses the same delay for local and remote modes.
You can set the AC filter from the front panel or through remote operation.
Front-panel operation
Perform the following steps to set the AC filter:

Perform the following steps to set display resolution:
1. Select the

measurement function.
2. Use the

key to set display resolution. Each key-press toggles the display between 4½
and 5½ digits.
