7.5.1 Pre-cleaning

Clean the DEXIS CariVu 3-in-1 by KaVo, the tip and the fluorescence cover
for at least 1 minute per item under running potable water with an flow rate
2l/min and a temperature of 30 °C ± 5 °C (86 °F ± 9 °F) or until the part is
visually clean.

Clean gently, since excessive force may damage the camera.
▶ Visually inspect if the part looks clean and inspect wear and tear. If the part
is not clean, repeat the relevant previous pre-cleaning steps. Worn down
parts should be repaired or replaced.
7.5.2 Automated internal and external cleaning and
internal and external disinfection
KaVo recommends washer disinfectors in accordance with ISO 15883-1, which
are operated using alkaline cleaning agents.
The validations were conducted with the VARIO-TD program, the cleaning
agent neodisher MediClean forte and the neutralisation agent neodisher Z.

For program settings as well as cleansers and disinfectants to be used,
please refer to the Instructions for Use of the washer disinfector.
The washer disinfector should at least provide the following program steps:
Automated cleaning procedure

Step 1: Precleaning with cold tap water
▶ Step 2: Cleaning 0.5% cleaner 55 °C for 5 min with de-ionized water
▶
Step 3: Rinsing with neutralization agent
▶
Step 4: Rinsing with de-ionized water for 1 min
Automated disinfection procedure
For tests on the disinfection the following parameters will be applied:

Step 1: Pre-cleaning with cold tap water for 1 min
▶ Step 2: Cleaning 0.5% cleaner 55 °C for 5 min with de-ionized water
▶
Step 3: Rinsing with de-ionized water for 1 min
▶
Step 4: Thermal disinfection with de-ionized water at 93 °C for 5 min
The drying procedure is usually part of the cleaning program of the washer dis-
infector. In order to prevent impairment of the KaVo medical device, make sure
that the inside and outside of the device is dry after the end of the cycle.
