1. Before installation
Inspect both product and the contents of the package as soon as you receive them. Report any
transport damages immediately to the deliverer. The fireplace's identification plate is at the bottom of
the back wall.
1.1. Package contents and its inspection
The fireplace package contains:
Fireplace
Within the fire compartment
Installation instructions
Grate
Rear flue opening plug, cover plate and attachment pipe
1.2. Transport and moving
For ease of transport and handling the fireplace is delivered in assembled form. See instruction 2.1.
The soapstone cladding must be removed before the fireplace is removed from its transport platform.
To avoid transport damage, the fireplace must be transported in upright position at all times.
Before any use, all decals and packaging must be removed. The identification plate must not be
removed.
1.3. Important matters and regulations
In addition to these instructions, all local ordinances and EU standards must be followed during
installation and use of this device. Make sure to find out about any building permissions you might
need and the carrying capacity of the floor before you start installing.
Prior to installation of the chimney or first use of the fireplace, the chimney's temperature
classification must be checked.
Median temperature of flue gas at nominal output is 304°C/580°F.
Required temperature classification of pipe is T-600
If the fireplace is attached to a shared chimney, the connection pipe must always have its own damper
plate.
Always check that the flue channel has sufficient draught before starting the fire.
At nominal output, the minimum draught pressure is -12Pa and the mass flow rate 6,4g/s.
This can be checked roughly by first burning some newspaper in the fireplace.
To avoid smoke escaping into the room during lighting and burning proceed as follows:
Shut off all devices that cause under pressure in the room such as a range hood or
mechanical ventilation.
If the ventilation system has been equipped with a fireplace switch, use it according to its
instructions.
If the fireplace has its own external air feed, make sure it is open, unimpeded and providing
good air flow.
Melody fireplaces are meant for heating rooms. They must not be used for any other purpose.
The fireplace is not designed for continuous use around the clock.
No decorative or other objects are to be placed on the fireplace and it must not be covered in
any way while it is hot or being heated.
To ensure optimal power and safety, the feeding door must be closed during heating. The
door may be left open during heating only, if the fireplace is under constant supervision. The
doors and glass surfaces must be treated with great care.
If the fireplace has been standing unused in a humid environment for a longish period (e.g. in
an unheated summer cottage), it must be inspected before use to make sure it does not have
corrosion damage and that the chimney is not blocked by a bird's nest or some such.
