Cooling System
Coolant
The coolant is used to cool the engine down. Proportion of the
coolant additive decides anti-freezing capacity of the coolant in
winter.
Motor coolant must be changed at intervals specified in the
maintenance manual. The coolant is a mixture of water and the
coolant additive G12+. The additive contains an ethylene
glycol-based antifreeze and anti-corrosion additive.
Coolant additive
Proportion of the coolant additive depends on the climatic
condition where the car is used. If proportion of the coolant
additive in the coolant is low, the coolant may freeze, resulting in
failure of the warm and heat circulation system.
When the vehicle leaves the factory, the proportion of coolant
additives has been configured according to the climatic conditions
of the country or region to which the vehicle is delivered.
Generally, the coolant is prepared with 60% water and 40%
coolant additive
. The mixture in this proportion not only has
anti-freezing ability even when the temperature is as low as -
25 ℃, but also can prevent the corrosion of metal parts in the
cooling system. In addition, it may prevent scaling and
significantly increase the boiling point of the coolant.
Temperate region
It is not allowed to add water to reduce the concentration of
coolant in warm seasons or in temperate countries. The proportion
of coolant additives should not than 40%.
Frigid zone
The proportion of the coolant additive G12+ can be increased if it
is necessary to enhance the anti-freezing ability due to climate
reasons. If the proportion reaches 60%, it still has anti-freezing
ability even when the temperature is as low as - 40 ℃. However,
the proportion of coolant additives
should not exceed 60%
,
otherwise the anti-freezing ability will be reduced. So does the
cooling effect.
Caution!
Please check whether the coolant additives of the vehicle is
able to adapt to the climatic conditions before winter comes.
This is especially true when you drive to a frigid area. Increase
the proportion of antifreeze to more than 50% and less than 60%
when necessary according to climatic conditions.
Only G12+ or "TL-VW 774F" additives are allowed to be used
as coolant additives. Other coolant additives may greatly affect
the corrosion resistance of coolant. The resulting damage may
cause coolant leakage and serious damage to the motor.
The coolant additive G12 + can be mixed with other additives
(G11 and G12).
