Lubrication system

Change transmission oil and examine oil level

Drain

Drain  the  oil  when  the  transmission  has  warmed  up  to  make  sure
that wear particles and other impurities are removed with the warm
oil.
1

Put a container (30 L) below the oil plug (A) at the bottom of
the transmission housing.

2

Remove the oil plug (A).

3

Drain the oil from the transmission.

4

Replace the sealing ring of the oil plug.

5

When all the oil has drained out, install the oil plug (A).

Fill

1

Remove the transmission oil dipstick (A).

2

Through the dipstick opening, fill the transmission with recom‐
mended  lubricating  oil  so  that  the  oil  level  is  at  the  correct
level according to the dipstick.

3

Start the engine and let it run idle so that the torque converter
and oil cooler are filled up.

4

Stop  the  engine  and  examine  the  filter  connections  for  oil
leaks.

5

Examine  the  oil  level  (Oil  level  cold/hot  examination),  as
instructed  later  in  this  chapter.  If  necessary,  add  oil  to  the
transmission so that the oil level rises to the required level.

Oil level cold/hot examination

After oil refill/change perform oil level cold/hot examination.
Cold  examination  procedure  determines  if  the  transmission  has
enough  oil  to  be  operated  safely  until  a  hot  examination  can  be
made.
Hot examination procedure determines if the transmission has cor‐
rect oil level with normal operating temperature.
