Digital Stabilizers
Your Krogen 58’ is equipped with a TRAC Digital Stabilizer by American Bow Thruster.
The hydraulic Stabilizer system is a two fixed displacement pump design and includes
two fixed displacement hydraulic pumps, two 9 sq. ft. fins (Port and Starboard), oil
reservoir, Jabsco cooling pump, Arcturus Tandem Cooler heat exchanger, pressure
control manifold, Port and Starboard servo valve, Flybridge remote, fin center indicator,
Pilothouse Touchscreen Panel, photoelectric speed sensors, Port and Starboard fin
position feedback sensor, Port and Starboard actuators and associated cables and
connectors.
As part of the delivery packet from Kadey-Krogen, you received a “Basic System
Operation, Ver. 2.007” manual which provides excellent comprehensive and detailed
information on the operation of your Digital Stabilizers. We highly recommend you
become familiar with the organization, content, and format of that manual. This owner’s
manual will highlight the more important items in the “Basic System Operation” manual.
Initialization
The Digital Stabilizers installed in your new Krogen 58’ are ready to go. The system was
initialized during vessel commissioning.
Start-up Procedure
After starting the engines, which will drive the Stabilizer Hydraulic Pump, proceed with
the following:
1.
Turn
‘ON’
the circuit breaker labeled ‘
STABILIZERS’
on the 24V DC
NAV./COM. Electronic Panel.
2.
Turn
‘ON’
the circuit breaker labeled ‘
BOW THRUSTER WINDLASS’
on the
24V DC NAV./COM. Electronic Panel. This is done to supply power to the dual
pressure manifold and to the alarm sender for temperature and oil level. The
PORT PUMP on the Pump Select Switch Panel, below the Bow Thruster jog
lever, will illuminate. The pump on the Port engine is the default pump. If the
Port engine is not available, press the STBD PUMP button to make the Starboard
pump available for the Stabilizers.
CAUTION
The Stabilizer System MUST BE OPERATING whenever the vessel is underway
during normal or maneuvering operations.
Stabilizer component damage could occur if the vessel is MANEUVERED or
REVERSED when the fins are not “CENTERED”.
Any fin that cannot be in the “ACTIVE” or “CENTERED” state should be
mechanically PINNED as soon as possible. See “PINNING OF FINS” below.
