Battery System

Battery Banks

The battery system installed on your Krogen 58’ consists of a battery bank for starting each
propulsion engine, a battery for starting each Generator, a battery bank for ship’s services/house
and a battery bank for providing power to the 12V DC NAV./COM. electronics equipment and
accessories.

The battery bank for

starting the propulsion engines

is made up of two banks of two Model

GPL-3100T12V batteries, wired in series to provide a total of 24V DC, rated at 100 amp hours
and 810 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and located in the Engine Room.

Each

Generator

has its own dedicated 12V DC start battery bank, Model GPL 2400T rated at 75

amp hours and 650 CCA and also located in the Engine Room.

The battery bank for the

ship’s service/house to the 24V DC MAIN ELECTRICAL PANEL

is located in the Amidships Machinery Space. It is made up of three banks; each bank consisting
of four Model GPL-4C 6V batteries (total of twelve batteries). Each bank of four 6V batteries is
wired in series to provide a total of 24V DC, rated at 220 amp hours and 750 CCA.

The battery bank for providing power to the

12V DC NAV./COM

. Electronics Panel consists of

one bank of two 12V DC batteries Model GPL-2400T rated at 75 amp hours and 650 CCA. This
battery bank is located in the Port side storage compartment on the Flybridge.

CAUTION

The NAV./COM. Battery Bank is designed to support the 12V DC NAV./COM.

ELECTRONICS PANEL. The NAV./COM. Battery bank should be used to

power the 24V Panel in an emergency situation only.

The

ship’s service/house battery bank

is the primary source of power to the

24V DC

NAV./COM. ELECTRONICS PANEL

. The selector switch at the top of the panel should

always be switched to

‘HOUSE BAT’

unless it is an emergency situation.

In an emergency, the

NAV./COM. Battery Bank can provide power to the 24V DC NAV./COM. Panel, but only
for a limited period of time.

All batteries are the Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) type provided by Lifeline Batteries and are

maintenance free

, other than charging and Equalization.
