2.1.3.1 General safety measures
Systems for identifying individuals are designed in
accordance with the following criteria:
maximum throughput of persons
highest possible level of personal protection
identi cation of persons
high level of monitoring
These criteria cannot always be reconciled with one
another. It is not always possible to achieve a high
degree of monitoring with a maximum throughput of
persons.
However, the separation distance between the
control element and the sensor eld should not be
set too low, in order to avoid a common malfunction
caused by possible activation of the sensor eld
prior to release.
Optimal separation distance between control
element and sensor eld
The optimal separation distance between the
control element and the sensor eld must be
greater than 30 cm.
see
Fig. 2.1.3.1-1
This avoids a common malfunction caused
by possible activation of the sensor eld
prior to release.
Depending on the response time of the
identi cation programme, signi cantly higher
separation distances may be necessary. The
response time of the card reader should not
exceed 0.2 s.
