Host Subsystem

Switching and routing functionality, system management, and system control functions of an EX9253
switch are performed by the host subsystem. The host subsystem consists of two Routing Engines.

You must install either one or two Routing Engines in slots labeled RE0 and RE1 on the front panel of
the chassis. A base configuration EX9253 switch has one Routing Engine. A redundant configuration
