POWER REQUIREMENTS 

The RTU-292C’s external supply requires a single-phase AC power source and operates on an 
input range of 90 to 270 VAC, with input frequency from 47 to 63 Hz.   Power consumption is 
20 VA typical, 50 VA maximum. 

Alternatively, the unit may be operated from a (nominal) +12, +24, or +28 VDC supply.  At the 
+12VDC setting, the unit will operate from +11 to +15VDC, and at the +24/+28 VDC setting, 
the unit will operate from +22 to +30 VDC.  Slide switch S6 on the Main Board selects either 
+12 or +24/+28 VDC.

 POWER SELECTION 

2.7.1

 

LINE VOLTAGE SELECTION 

The  external  power  supply  provided  with  the  RTU-292C  operates  from  90  to  270  VAC  and 
therefore does not require any switch settings for proper operation. 

2.7.2

 

DC INPUT POWER SELECTION 

Internal slide switch S6 is used to configure the RTU-292C to accept DC power from a (nominal) 
+12 or +24/+28 VDC source.  The +12/+28 VDC position will work with +24 VDC (nominal 
and +28 VDC (nominal) supplies.  The unit will automatically switch over to the use of the DC 
input when the AC source drops too low or is not available.  Slide switch S6 on the Main Board 
is used to select 12 or +24/+28 VDC operation.  S1 is located near the left front edge of 
the Main Board; the +12V and +24/+28V switch positions are clearly marked on the board.  The 
RTU-292C is set in the factory to the +24/+28 VDC position. 

 

CAUTION:  Always disconnect both the AC and DC input power cabling 

from the SNV-12 prior to servicing the unit. 

 

2.7.3

 

FUSE INFORMATION 

Three fuses are used in the RTU-292C.  F2 fuses the DC input and is located on the inside of the 
rear panel.  It can only be accessed with the top cover removed.  F3 and F4 fuse the telephone 
line input; they are located on the main PCB.  There is no fuse labeled F1.
