This section describes how to change the DVN 5000 server’s video standard setting to the
National Television Standards Committee (NTSC) standard or to the Phase-Alternating Line
(PAL) standard. You should only change the video standard setting if you have verified that
your server is currently running the incorrect standard for your country. If your system is
configured for the wrong standard, you will also experience camera video display problems.
To verify the current video standard setting on the DVN 5000 server, open the Setup>System
Configuration screen and confirm the setting in the
Video Standard
field.
Cannot move PTZ
camera position
An RS-232-to-RS485 converter can be used, such as the
B&B Electronics Model 485OT9L (recommended) or
485SD9TB, for PTZ camera control.
Verify the converter is connected to the DVN 5000’s
RS-232 serial port.
Wiring from converter to PTZ camera: TD(A) to RX- and
TD(B) to RX+.
Verify the PTZ dome settings in the DVN 5000 are correct
(refer to the
DVN 5000 Software Installation and
Configuration Manual
).
If the camera address is 1 and Protocol is “Pelco P", then the
address in the DVN should be 0.
If the camera address is 1 and protocol is "Pelco D", then the
address in the DVN should be 1.
Audio distortion or no

Verify the audio device is properly connected to the
DVN 5000’s audio ports.
Check your DVN 5000 audio configuration settings (refer to
the
DVN 5000 Software Installation and Configuration
Manual
) or add an external potentiometer to reduce the
amplitude.
Test the audio device separate from the DVN 5000 to verify
that it functions correctly.
Server is not recording.
System indicates
camera view is “Live”
when it should indicate
that it is “Recording.”
Contact your nearest district sales/service office for technical
assistance.
USB mouse locks-up
Disconnect and then reconnect the mouse.
!
CAUTION
To change the video standard setting, you must use the “Clean System

Controls.
