The information in this Appendix provides basic guidelines
for installing third party products to use with the IR2-BB. We strongly
advise that you use extreme caution when working with these third party
products. Jeppesen Marine cannot be held responsible for damage to
the IR2-BB resulting from these steps and such damage may affect your
existing warranty.
Data Cable Slave Units
Installing the data cable requires the opening of the Furuno display to
access the slave connector located on a circuit board near the rear of the
unit. The typical case will have a number of machine screws and circular
connector nuts that must be removed. Be careful not to damage the
display case when separating it.
A plug or knock-out must be removed from the rear half of the case to
provide the 8-pin in-line connector housing on the data cable with a
passage way into the Furuno display case. The 8-pin housing is the mate
to the 8-pin connector on the circuit board. This should make identification
easy.
To complete the cable installation route the 8-pin housing though the plug
or knock-out that was removed, push in and down on the mating 8-pin
connector on the circuit board. Both housing and connector are keyed
and can only be installed in one way. A click may be heard when the two
are locked in place. A gentle pulling action should provide resistance,
indicating the connection is locked. Should the housing come off, check
the orientation and reconnect.
Complete the procedure by reversing the disassembly order. Take care
not to pinch the cables. Secure the display case with all machine screws
and circular connector nuts.
