Video testing
The video test option analyzes the video transmission stream QoS at the
packet level. Since the initial video quality is established by the source material
and encoding process at the head end, and the decoding quality is established
by the Set-Top-Box, the effects of the transport and access networks on the
video streams are the variables requiring analysis. Actual video content
decoding is not performed.
This procedure involves two main steps:
– configure the video settings
– run the test
To run a video test
1 Specify the settings on the VIDEO SETUP menu.

“Specifying Video settings” on page 39 .
2 View the test results.
a Select MODEM TEST .
b Select ADVANCED .
c Select VIDEO TEST .
d To change the video channel, press the right arrow. This returns you to
the video setup. After specifying the new channel, press the left arrow
to return to the video test. The test restarts.
For more information on the results, see Chapter 7 “Interpreting Test Results” .
NOTE:
You must have the advanced IP option and the Video option installed to use
this feature.
NOTE:
The data connection must be established (indicated by a solid green Frame
LED) for video streams to be visible to the SmartClass Tester and the video
statistics screens to show activity.
