Web testing
22 SmartClass ADSL/Copper Tester User’s Guide
The following procedure describes how to release IP addresses.
To release IP addresses
1 If you haven’t already done so, do the following:
a If the tester is not on, press the Power key to turn it on.
b Connect a cable from the line to the DSL jack on the right side of the
ADSL/Copper Tester.
2 After the modem has synchronized, use the arrow keys to navigate to the
WAN or LAN STATUS result screen.
3 Press the 1 key for IP RELEASE.
This releases the IP address that was dynamically assigned by the
network.
The IP address is released and available for use by other equipment.
The ADSL/Copper Tester also releases the address when you exit the test
application or when the power is turned off.
Web testing
Web Test uses HTTP to connect to a remote web site, quickly verifying the
responsiveness by downloading a web page.
This procedure involves two main steps:
– specifying the destination address
– run the test
To run a web test
1 If you haven’t already done so, do the following:
a If the tester is not on, press the Power key to turn it on.
b Connect a cable from the line to the DSL jack on the right side of the
ADSL/Copper Tester.
c Wait for the modems to sync. After synchronization, proceed to step 2 .
2 Specify the settings on the WEB TEST SETUP menu.

NOTE:
After releasing the address, you can request a new address by pressing the
1 key for IP RENEW.

You must have the advanced IP option installed to use this feature.
