Brake Maintenance
21.5
Brake shoes and drums experience rapid initial wear and so must be adjusted after the first
300 km.
(200 miles)
of use, and each
5,000 km. (3,000 miles)
thereafter. Your Jaylor Dump Wagon is
equipped with manually slack-adjusted brakes.
It is very important to check and adjust the brakes
before every use
.
A correctly adjusted brake has only ½ inch (1.27 cm) of slack. When slack reaches 1 inch (2.54 cm)
the brakes
must
be adjusted.
Checking the Slack
1. Pull the cylinder push rod out to its limit using a short pry bar.
2. Measure the distance the push rod travels (the “slack”).
3. If the slack is 1 inch or more, the brakes
must
be adjusted.
Adjusting the Brakes
1. Turn the adjusting bolt until you feel solid resistance.
2. Back-off the bolt one-quarter turn to restore running clearance.
3. Re-check the slack.
