5. Assembly and installation
DANGER
Risk of injury due to electrical voltage!
Severe bodily injury or death can result from:
· Touching bare or stripped leads that are ener-
gized.
· Device inputs that pose a hazard when
touched.
Switch off your installation before commencing
work! Check to be sure it is de-energized!
Proceed as follows to mount the Procont
®
-LMC-
008-IO expansion module:
1. Mount the device in switchboard cabinets or
small distribution boards according to DIN
43880 (any mounting orientation) on a 35 mm
(1.38 in) DIN rail.
2. Check the device for a fi rm fi t. The mounting
orientation is arbitrary.
3. Connect the supply voltage of
24 VDC/150 mA.
Refer to the rating plate for the supply voltage
for your device. A message will appear on the
display after the supply voltage has been con-
nected. If no display appears, check whether
the supply voltage is within the nominal volt-
age range.
4. Connect the device to your local network. Use
a standard RJ45 patch cable to do so (see also
„4.1 Display and connection assignments“ on
page 12).
ATTENTION
Material damage due to disregard of the instal-
lation instructions!
Disregard of the installation instructions can
damage or destroy your device.
· Observe the information on the mounting orien-
tation in the sections “Mounting” and “Technical
Data”.
· Provide adequate air circulation in your installa-
tion environment and, as needed, cooling when
the temperatures are high!
CAUTION
Material damage due to disregard of the con-
nection conditions or impermissible overvoltag-
es
Disregard of the connection instructions or ex-
ceeding the permissible voltage range can dam-
age or destroy your device. Before connecting
the device to the supply voltage, please note:
• The voltage value must correspond to the
specifi cations on the rating plate! Observe
limit values as described in the user manual!
• In the building installation, secure the supply
voltage with a UL/IEC listed line circuit break-
er/fuse!
• Place the isolation device within easy reach of
the user, close to the device, and label it for
the respective device.
