Accuracy

Mechanical models with manual or automatic
winding

The accuracy of the mechanical movement models is determined
by the balance. This makes 21,600 or 28,800 vibrations per hour,
depending on the model (see technical characteristics).

Despite all the care with which the Jaeger-LeCoultre master-
watchmakers have made and assembled your watch, its
accuracy is subject to the influence of gravity, magnetic fields,
impacts and ageing of the oils. The accuracy is measured by its
rate regularity in various positions.

The nature of your constitution or lifestyle may lead to slight
irregularities. If you observe slow or fast running of your
watch, you are advised to take it to an approved Jaeger-
LeCoultre retailer, who will make any necessary adjustments.

Quartz models

Jaeger-LeCoultre quartz watches contain a battery
and electronic components. In service operations,
your official Jaeger-LeCoultre Service Centre
or authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer will be

responsible for recovering them and disposing of them in
accordance with current standards.

The quartz models are accurate to within 2 to 3 minutes
per year.

Water resistance

Jaeger-LeCoultre watches are water resistant to 3, 5, 10,
20, 30 or 100 atm, depending on the model (see technical
characteristics). This property is identifiable by the

symbol engraved on the case-back. This means that your
timekeeper has been tested to an immersion pressure
equivalent to 30, 50, 100, 200, 300 or 1000 metres,
according to the number of atmospheres shown beside the
aforementioned symbol (1 atm = 10 metres).

Please note also that leather straps are not suitable for aquatic
activities.

It is essential to have your watch’s water resistance checked
by an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer on a regular basis
and definitely before any period in which it will be subjected
to prolonged and/or regular immersion.

The “1000 Hours Control” test
by Jaeger-LeCoultre

Jaeger-LeCoultre subjects its watches to the rigourous
“1000 Hours Control” test programme. Unique in its kind,
this test consists of 1000 hours of comprehensive, stringent
checks.

The “1000 Hours Control” seal or marking affixed or engraved
on the back of your watch certifies that it has undergone this
observation programme in our laboratories and has passed all
the tests : rate regularity checks, temperature and atmospheric
pressure tests, resistance to impacts and magnetic fields and
water resistance tests. Your watch is therefore capable of
withstanding the trials of everyday life when you wear it on
your wrist.

Compression keys

The compression key fitted on the crowns of Master

Compressor line watch models is a patented system which
enables additional compression of the 4 crown gaskets, which
boosts your watch’s water resistance in the long term.

The “open” or “closed” position of the compression key is
indicated by the arrow symbols (viewed from the front) :
-  The compression key is in the compressed gasket position

(“closed”) if the indicator shows only one arrow; the keys
must be closed when you wear your watch and when
you are taking part in sports. You must not make any
adjustments or set the time in this position, since this might
damage the gaskets.

-  The compression key is in the non-compressed gasket

position (“open”) if the indicator shows two arrows; in this
configuration, you can then start the watch and set the
functions as per the explanations below.

The switch from the “closed” to the “open” position, or vice-
versa, is made by turning the key using the wing-nuts in the
direction indicated by the arrow(s).

Note :

The water-resistance function of the compression key is
separate from the operation of the crown itself. Even in
the closed position, the key does not lock the crown. So in
practice it is possible to handle the crown when the key is
in the compressed gasket position. However, as mentioned
earlier, it is extremely inadvisable to make adjustments in this
position, since this might damage the gaskets. We recommend
that you first turn the compression key to the “open” position
before making any adjustments to your watch.

Master Compressor Diving, diver’s watches

satisfying the NIHS 92 -11 (ISO 6425) standards

Master Compressor Diving line watches, which bear the
title “diving watches”, satisfy the requirements of the Swiss
Watchmaking Industry Standard (NIHS) 92-11, reproducing
the European standard ISO 6425.

Notice

As a precaution, we draw your attention to the following two
recommendations :
-  You must not adjust the crowns in water,
-  You must not use Master Compressor Diving watches

for deep dives (diving with a gas mixture, in which the
diver spends alternating periods between the water and
a pressurised chamber), or at a depth greater than that
indicated.
