II.6 Bottom Finding Pinger Mode

Free running transmitter when activating the “PINGER ON” mode by acoustic
Telecommand. Pinger mode is stopped by sending PINGER OFFF acoustic
Telecommand.

Pinger mode and pulse characteristics are field programmable through serial RS232
port using BALI MMI software running on PC-Windows computer
 M-FSK pulses (1 among 24 codes), 25 ms wide with 14.5 to 17.5 kHz spread
spectrum,
 Tonal Pulse with selectable frequency from 7.5 to 17.0 kHz with 10 ms pulse width
(2ms and 5ms width selectable for 12 kHz frequency pulse only)
 Repetition rate from 1 to 31 seconds, step 1sec.
•
Transmit level : 191 ±4 dB re. 1µPa at 1 m within 8 to 16 kHz bandwidth
: 193 ±2 dB re. 1µPa at 1 m @ 12 kHz

II.7 Asynchronous Serial Port
An internal input/output communication channel is available on the Electronic PCB of
RT8X1 Unit, for modifying some default parameters.
Non-insulated RS 232 by default
4,800 baud, 1 start bit, 8 data bit without parity, 1 stop bit
At input: transponder configuration modification, operating and activity mode control, etc.
At output: transponder status reading (status)
SUBCONN Bulkhead connector (“R” option) for direct access to serial port without
opening the instrument (RS232 by default, RS422 on special request).
