Belt Splicing System v.2.0

11-3

Trim the Second Weld Bead—
Alternative Technique

If working alone or with low clearance, con-
sider this alternative technique for removing
the second weld bead from the belt splice.

1.

After the first weld bead is removed, leave

the Clamping Fixture in place.

2.

Place the Cut Guide rail between the

Grooved Decks, and bend the belt back so it
lies on the flat Cut Guide base.

Figure 11F: Bend belt back onto Cut Guide

3.

Use Trimmers to cut a small piece of the

weld bead from the belt at the belt edge.

4.

Place the Skiver blade under the cut weld

bead and trim the weld bead from the belt.

5.

To finish trimming and inspecting the belt,

see

Trim Belt Edges

 on page 7-2.

Inspect the Clamping Fixture

Ensure the Clamping Fixture meets the follow-
ing requirements before aligning belt ends.

The Clamping Fixture Grooved Decks
open smoothly when the Crank Handle is
turned counter-clockwise.

Figure 11G: Open Clamping Fixture

The Clamping Fixture closes smoothly
when the Crank Handle is turned clock-
wise, then locks closed at the “click.”

Ensure the pads on

each end

 of the

Clamping Fixture touch. Middle Clamp-
ing Fixture pads do not have to touch.

metal pads touch
