Vacuum and Leak Test:

o

Attach gauges to the service ports.

o

Outdoor unit is factory pre-charged; make sure shut off valves are closed

(as received) during pressure testing and evacuating.

o

Once the gauges are attached pressurize the line set using Nitrogen at

300 PSIG and check for leaks.

o

Next, evacuate the unit down to a minimum of 200 Microns for 30 minutes.

It is essential that a deep vacuum be pulled on the system to remove all
traces of moisture.

o

At this point in the installation it is a good idea to connect the electrical

power while the vacuum is running. See next section.

o

Close gauge valves and shut down the vacuum pump.

Electrical connections:

o

Electrical wiring should be done in accordance with National Electrical

Code (NEC) and local state/city building codes.

o

Ensure that the proper size breaker is used for the rating plate amperage.

o

Each system installed must have a dedicated branch circuit with an

individual breaker/fuse.

o

A local disconnect should be installed adjacent to the outdoor unit.

o

The outdoor unit provides power for the Indoor unit therefore, no

disconnect is required between the outdoor and indoor units.

o

On the indoor unit, connect the electrical wires to the terminal strip and

close cover (remember what color goes to which terminal).

o

On the outdoor unit remove RHS knockout on the terminal access panel

for whip/wiring connection.
